Extreme Cold Warning
Starts tomorrow at 3:00PM EST

A severe event that will likely develop

* WHAT...For the Wind Advisory, northwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected. For the Extreme Cold Warning, dangerously cold wind chills as low as 21 below expected.

* WHERE...In New Jersey, Morris, Sussex, and Warren Counties. In Pennsylvania, Berks, Lehigh, and Northampton Counties.

* WHEN...For the Wind Advisory, from 8 AM to 9 PM EST Saturday. For the Extreme Cold Warning, from 3 PM Saturday to 10 AM EST Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside.

Extreme Cold Safety Tips

General Information

Minimize travel.
Stay indoors during the worst part of the extreme cold.
Keep a winter survival kit in your vehicle if you must travel.
Check tire pressure, antifreeze levels, heater/defroster, etc.
Learn how to shut off water valves for potential pipe bursts.
Check on the elderly.
Bring pets inside.
How Should I Dress?

Wear layers of loose-fitting, lightweight, warm clothing, and a hat.
Mittens, snug at the wrist, are better than gloves.
Cover your mouth to protect your lungs from extreme cold.
Try to stay dry and out of the wind.
